About the Team:
The Manager, Payroll, North America is responsible for overseeing the payroll team and all aspects of the payroll function for our North America operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and providing exceptional support to our employees.
Your Role as Manager, Payroll
- Ensuring appropriate application of all State and Federal compliance regulations
- Identifying and researching workflow issues and offer possible recommendations for consideration by the HR Operations Director
- Identifies areas for improvement and takes initiative to implement changes that increase payroll effectiveness
- Manages, completes or supports the implementation of payroll-related initiatives and projects
- overseeing the day-to-day payroll operations including the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all of North America
- responsible for setting up and managing payroll processing for the US and Canada
- Managing the payroll team and ensuring the preparation, analysis, and review of payroll reports
- Calculation of exception items such as bonuses, garnishments, terminations, tax adjustments, administration of time and attendance systems and weekly/monthly payroll reporting
- Designing and implementing procedures to meet payroll, business and legal reporting requirements
- Partners with other managers and department leads to ensure the Time and Attendance system captures special pay calculation’s unique to Pandora’s needs
- Advises business partners on Federal and State statutory compliance in the areas of operations in payroll laws
- Partners with business stakeholders including but not limited to HR Performance & Reward, HR Business Partners, Retail Ops, IT, Accounting and Finance
- Directs and oversees the payroll process for US, Canada and Caribbean 13,000+ employees
- Develop and mentor team members in the performance of their duties, establishing work priorities, cross training, building capabilities and in achieving management objectives.
- Ensures that all tax payments, tax returns (quarterly and annual), time corrections, W-2’s, manual checks, and garnishments are processed in a timely manner by meeting all established deadlines.
- Establish payroll processing objectives and ensures that these are met by developing and controlling all necessary tasks as well as maintaining relationships with internal and external auditors, state and federal agencies.
- Partners with Director, People Expereince to develop an execution plan to implement long term goals for the Payroll department that become the basis for short term goals and the annual operational planning
- Complies with legal requirements by staying up-to-date on new payroll legislation and implementing necessary changes.
- Builds best in class processes to drive timely payroll processing ensuring that Service Level Agreement (SLA) processing targets are met or exceeded by the Payroll team.
- Oversee the mapping maintenance for payroll journal entry export files in the payroll system.
- Strategically provides continuous improvements to the payroll process by analyzing payroll and shared service trends.
- Manage and participate in internal and external audit requests.
- Maintain payroll confidentiality.
- Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation, tax deductions, benefit deductions)
- Manage the monthly payroll process to ensure all employees are paid on time and in accordance with current tax and other regulations
- Interpret payroll information - critique and question to ensure accuracy and compliance

- 8 years’ experience managing high volume, multi-state/global payrolls including: United States, Canada and Caribbean is required
- Bachelors Degree is preferred
- Solid understanding of federal and state wage and hour laws including payroll, taxes, withholding, deductions and garnishments
- Experience in Multi state required
- Experience working with Ultimate Software (UltiPro), additional payroll systems would be highlight advantageous ADP, Kronos, Dayforce etc.
- Demonstrable experience with state legislation and payroll requirements per state.
- Either CPP, FPC or similar certification is required
- Experience as a Team Leader or Manager of a busy team
- Ability to delegate, and motivate team to deliver results
- Ability to communicate with vendors and stakeholders
- Proven ability to develop payroll processes and procedures
- Require high level understanding of systems and how they interface
- Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline driven, changing environment
- Strong understanding of state legislation and requirements
- Knowledge and prior experience of tax would be highly advantageous
- Strong analytics experience – able to analyze and interpret data to drive business decisions

New York Salary: $131,000 - $162,000 commensurate with experience
